The idea: putting a living landscape on the wrist
From above, a river becomes a line, a forest becomes texture and a coastline becomes a shape. That change of scale gave the design its visual language.
Land becomes texture
Layers of green needed enough variation to suggest fields, forest and rising ground without making the dial feel crowded.
Water creates direction
River and coastline guide the eye across the dial while separating the land from the deep-blue ocean.
Time becomes an orbit
The familiar hands became celestial bodies, joining the practical movement of the watch to the rhythms of day and night.
From first brushstrokes to rejected dials
These photographs come from the real development archive. They show experiments, not alternative versions of the watch currently for sale.
What changed before the final design
The strongest change was moving away from conventional hands. Turning the Sun and Moon into the indicators made the way the watch tells time part of the story rather than something placed on top of it.
The composition also became calmer. The final dial lets land, river and ocean read as one bird's-eye landscape. Its silver stainless-steel mesh strap gives the colorful scene a restrained frame.

Once those landmarks are familiar, the landscape becomes easy to read. The display remains unconventional, but it does not require a separate code.
Hand-painted, assembled and checked in small quantities
Nature's Orbit is hand-painted to order and never mass-produced. The CHOOSZ team builds the dial through painting, detail correction and assembly, then checks the completed watch before it leaves the studio.
That does not mean every component is made from raw material by hand. The watch uses an Original Japanese movement, hardened mineral glass and other manufactured components. The handmade work is concentrated where it matters most to this design: the landscape, its small visual details and the finished dial composition.
Paint
Land, river and ocean are developed as a miniature scene rather than a flat printed motif.
Refine
Edges, landmarks and color relationships are corrected so the scene stays clear at wrist scale.
Assemble and check
The finished dial is assembled with manufactured components, then its display and function are checked.
